posvećena umetnosti i tehnologiji modernog života.
stradanju. Majka plače nad mrtvim detetom, poraženi razoružani vojnik, ljudske
figure koje vrište u agoniji...
One of the most famous paintings of
art history was made regarding to event, happened on this day, 1937. Guernica was
bombed in the time of Spanish civil war, by the units who were sent to fight on
a side of general Franco.
Same year 1937. in Paris was held International Exposition
dedicated to Art and Technology in Modern Life. For this occasion Spanish government
engaged already known Spanish painter Pablo Picasso, to make painting for this
exhbition.
As creator of cubism, artistic movement, it was obvious that
this painting will be made in the same manner. Only in monochromatic tones,
black, white, gray, which enhances the atmosphere of the painting and the power
of suffering which he wants to show.
At the first sight unusual shapes, which are slowly starting
to convert in human and animal figures, witnessing the suffering. Mother crying
over dead child, defeated disarmed soldier, human figures screaming in agony…
Painting which shows suffering in different way, probably
more striking than any other painting in history of art history.
